How to Build Solid Foundations
In order to build solid structures that go up, first you must dig down. You must clear a way through the dirt and get down to the bedrock. Once that is done, what you build has a much better chance of not sinking, blowing over or otherwise ending up as a heap on the ground.
If you're not convinced you need to build foundations in your faith in Jesus, please read Three Reasons You Need Firm Foundations.
It's fine to say "you need foundations" but how do you build those foundations??
Here's four ways:
1. Read Your Bible. Jesus says: "Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock." You can't act on Jesus' words if you don't know what they are, therefore you can't build solid foundations without reading and getting to know your Bible.
2. Complete the One 2 One book. You want to build foundations and get to know the word of God but don't know where to start. That's where One2One comes in - its a great resource that guides you around the Bible to key foundational beliefs of the Christian faith. You'll reflect on what the Bible says first hand. You can download your free copy or pick up a paper copy at church.
3. Join a Community Group. We need the encouragement, support and friendship of other believers and we also need to be challenged in our faith in order to grow. Community groups are key way we do that, so make sure you join one. Here's a full list of our current community groups you can get involved with.
4. Take part in Foundations Fortnight. We'll be running it through our community groups and completing One2One together. This allows space for group discussion, personal application and for you to ask any questions. It's all happening in the second half of February.
