The Story Begins...

November 26, 2017 Speaker: Gordon Wright Series: Christmas Future, Christmas Past

Topic: Sunday Gathering Passage: John 1:1–1:18

‘The way we understand human life depends on what conception we have of the human story. What is the real story of which my life story is a part?’ (Lesslie Newbigin, theologian)

Christianity doesn't present itself as a lens through which we can interpret the real story - it makes a bold and unavoidable claim to be the real story, the story that explains everything: why we're here; how our story began; what has happened between then and now; even how the story itself will end...

And, most importantly, what the turning point of that story is - the moment of climax in the narrative of all time and space, where the struggle is met with its answer, and our story is changed forever...

And the story of Christmas, which has been turned into a fable, a fairy tale even - that story is actually the opening scene in what turns out to be the final chapter in the story, the great narrative of what God is doing in the world.

As we begin our series, Christmas Future, Christmas Past, join us as we step into the opening credits of the greatest story ever told, and discover how Christmas changes everything...
